Atlanta Braves News: Travis d’Arnaud continues to show why every team should carry two All-Star catchers on their roster. d’Arnaud broke out on Friday night when he raised his slugging percentage .220 points by hitting three homers and driving in six runs against the Rangers.
Then, Saturday, he homered again going 1-2 with two walks and driving in two more runs. He took a seat for Sunday’s game in favor of Chadwick Tromp.
Tonight, d’Arnaud against Ryan Weathers and the Marlins, d’Arnaud homered again in the fourth inning. At that point, TDA had five homers in his last eight at-bats.
Travis d’Arnaud is the first Braves player in the Atlanta era to ever hit five homers in eight at-bats.
It’s hard to believe that just last Thursday, d’Araud had zero homers on the season and now he has five. His slugging percentage has rocketed from .311 to .648 as of the bottom of the seventh inning.
d’Arnaud is on some kind of hot streak right now. It’s a reminder of just what a luxury it is to have two incredible talents at catcher for the Braves. It’s hard enough for a team to get one guy who can handle the bat effectively.
After his three-homer game he just said he was trying to shorten up his swing because he felt like he was trying to do to much. So let that be a lesson everyone everywhere, stop trying so hard.
