Atlanta Braves News: The Braves optioned Forrest Wall on Friday to call up Luke Williams. Wall was a great story out of the spring but the Braves just didn’t have any playing time for him, especially after the late-spring addition of Adam Duvall.
Wall slashed .308/.400/.564 this spring with three homers, 10 RBI, three stolen bases, and five walks.
Forrest Wall found himself back in the minor leagues on Friday, where he as spent most of the past nine seasons. The Braves probably thought they would at least be able to provide him with some pinch running opportunities to take advantage of his speed (262 career minor-league stolen bases). Ultimately, they decided it would be best to get him regular reps in Gwinnett should his services be needed due to an injury during the season.
Wall announced his return to Gwinnett with authority over the weekend. On Friday, Wall went 1-3 with a run scored and a walk. On Saturday, Wall racked up three hits in five at-bats, scoring another run and collecting a stolen base. He also drove in a run in the third inning to tie the game.
After two games, Wall is hitting .500 for Gwinnett. The 9-11 Stripers’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:35 pm ET against 9-12 Norfolk.
