Atlanta Braves News: Bryce Elder got the call to make his first start of the 2024 season on Monday night against the Miami Marlins. Elder was an All-Star last season and actually had a better ERA than Spencer Strider.
Elder finished with a great line on the night but he got off to a rocky start.
Elder had a phenomenal first start back with the big-league club in 2024. He earned nine ground outs and didn’t allow a run over 6.2 innings of work. Elder didn’t walk any Marlins while allowing eight hits. Elder was credited with the win.
The Braves could really benefit from consistency out of Bryce Elder in the rotation with Spencer Strider out for the year.
Elder was 2-0 with a 3.31 ERA in Gwinnet this season over three starts.
Elder went 7-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 18 starts during the first half of 2023. The Braves hope he can sustain that sort of production and fill the hole in the rotation this year. This was a great start for the right hander.
If he stays with the big-league club he would be lined up to make his next start on Sunday April 26th against the 16-6 Cleveland Guardians.
