Travis d’Arnaud had a huge night against the Rangers. Not only did he have three homers in the game, but each home run was a clutch hit for the Braves. d’Arnaud helped the Braves answer back from a Marcus Semien leadoff homer with a solo blast of his own in the second inning to make it a 2-1 game.
TDA’s fifth-inning homer gave the Braves a 3-1 lead. Then, his third homer of the night came in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and the game tied 3-3. Please enjoy the moment as the sold-out home crowd explodes on contact.
It was Travis d’Arnaud’s second three-homer game of his career. The grand slam was Travis d’Arnaud’s third of his career.
With the grand slam, d’Arnaud became the fourth Braves catcher to ever record a three-homer game. He joined Bryce Harper and Shea Langeliers as the only players to hit three homers in one game this season. What are the odds that two of the three players on that list would be catchers? A current Braves catcher and a former Braves catcher, no less.
The Braves haven’t had a three-homer game by a player since Adam Duvall did it twice in a week in September of 2020.
Travis d’Arnaud increased his batting average from .200 to .245 in last night’s game. He entered the game with a slugging percentage of .311 and ended the game with a .531 SLG. His OPS went from .561 to .819.
The Braves have won five straight and look to make it sixth tonight as they send Charlie Morton to the mound to face Nathan Eovaldi at 7:20 ET.
