Marcell Ozuna hit a clutch go-ahead three run homer in today’s 9-7 victory over the Marlins. Ozuna was down to the last strike of the game with an 0-2 count and two outs in the top of the ninth when he crushed the 0-2 slider from Miami’s closer Tanner Scott. The Braves were down to their last strike on an 0-2 count.

The homer gave him seven on the season, tied for the most in Major League Baseball with Tyler O’Neill. Ozuna leads all of baseball in RBI with 21 and also leads in slugging percentage with .780. Since May 1st of last year, Ozuna trails only Matt Olson for the most home runs in baseball. Olson, who led the league in homers last season with 54, has hit 49 home runs since May 1st, 2023. Ozuna has 45.
Ozuna is picking up right where he left off last season (excluding April). Something clicked for Marcell Ozuna last May. After hitting just .085 with five total hits in April, Ozuna transformed like a Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger when the calendar flipped to May. He still hasn’t taken off the suit.
Coincidentally, the turnaround began in Miami last year. Ozuna likes hitting in Miami. Ozuna went 6-13 with three homers in that series in Miami last year. In this weekend’s series he went 7-13 with a homer.

In addition to the clutch game-winning homer and leading the league in homers, RBI, and slugging percentage, Ozuna now has the longest active hit streak in all of baseball. Outside of Opening Day, Ozuna has hit in every game this season.
Marcell Ozuna is now slashing .373/.413/1.193 on the season.
Ozuna and the 9-5 Braves will face the 6-11 Astros tomorrow at 8:10 EST. The game will be broadcast on the MLB Network as Ozuna looks to extend his hit streak to 14 games.
