With free agency in full swing, we look back and rank the top five biggest moves in Atlanta Braves history.

5. Atlanta Braves Top Free Agents: Josh Donaldson: 2019

The 33-year-old former AL MVP bet on himself in 2019 and signed a 1 year $23 million dollar contract with the Braves after struggling to stay healthy the previous two seasons with Toronto and Cleveland. He rewarded the Braves with a stellar year both at the plate and on the field and returned to MVP form.

Belting 37 homers and finishing first among qualified third baseman in defensive runs saved, Donaldson was an integral part of the success that the 2019 team had helping them to win a 2nd straight division title. Though the “Bringer of Rain” only lasted one year in Atlanta it was beneficial all around for both sides.

He was able to parlay his successful year into a four-year, $92 million contract with the Minnesota Twins and the Braves got their money’s worth in the form of a near top ten MVP finish for just $23 million.
