Spencer Strider continues to separate himself from the pack when it comes to starting pitching.
Leaderboard: Strikeouts Per Nine Innings Among Qualified SPs
- Spencer Strider – 15.08
- Shohei Ohtani – 13.62
- Hunter Greene – 12.56
- Kevin Gausman – 12.43

May is a Fresh Start for Marcell Ozuna
Marcell Ozuna continued his resurgence with his sixth home run of the year to give the Braves a 1-0 lead in the third inning.
In the month of May (five games), Ozuna is slashing .350./445/.950 with four home runs, three walks, three strikeouts, seven RBI over 23 plate appearances.
Vaughn Grissom Commits Another Error and Gets Optioned to Triple-A
Vaughn Grissom committed his sixth error, which tied him for third in the league among shortstops. This is not good, especially when you consider the fact that Grissom has only played in 18 games. According to Baseball Reference, Grissom is on pace for -46 defensive runs saved at shortstop this season.
With the news that Orlando Arcia has been activated from the IL this morning, the Braves have optioned Grissom and elected to keep Braden Shewmake as the backup shortstop while Ehire Adrianza is recovering from his elbow inflammation.
Other Game Notes:
Ozzie Albies collected his first steal of the season.
Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1-3 with an RBI and a walk, bringing his season average to .351.
Kevin Pillar pounded his 100th career home run to give the Braves the last run they needed to win the game.
Raisel Iglesias recorded his first save of the season with two strikeouts in a clean ninth inning.
The Braves were rocking their City Connect Uniforms. These sleek looking uniforms are on sale at MLB Shop right now!
