The Atlanta Braves have started the 2025 season 0-6 after losing 3-1 to the Dodgers last night. Prior to last season, the Braves had not had a five-game losing streak since 2017. They finally suffered one in June of last year.

They ended up with three five-game losing streaks in 2024, the year in which they snapped their six-year NL East title run.

One common denominator exists between the three six-game losing streaks and four five-game losing streaks since 2017: Ronald Acuna Jr. was not a part of the lineup for any of them.

The Atlanta Braves have never suffered a five-game losing streak with Ronald Acuna Jr. in the lineup.

His absence is felt immensely right now. Many of the current Braves’ hitters are prone to streakiness. During his MVP season, Acuna got on base in four out of 10 plate appearances, and if he didn’t have an extra-base hit, he would put himself in scoring position by stealing second.

As the Braves suffer through their inability to get on base, steal bases, or score runs, it makes us miss Acuna’s presence even more.

Here are some depressing stats about the Braves’ 6-game losing streak:

• Atlanta is one of just three teams to still have single-digit runs (9) on the season. To put that in perspective, the Cubs have 50 runs on the year.
• The Yankees have 18 home runs this season, the Braves have just 25 total hits.
• The Braves’ .220 slugging percentage is dead last in the league.
• The Braves are tied with the Astros for the least amount of RBIs in the league with eight. The Braves have played one more game than the Astros.
• Five teams have more home runs than the Braves have RBIs.
• The team batting average is .137, that’s the worst in the league, and it’s really not close.
• 6 teams have a higher SLG than the Braves’ .458 OPS (SLG + OBP).

We look forward to getting Acuna Jr. back in the lineup. Profar and Acuna were projected to be two of the best on-base guys in the lineup. Hopefully, the bats can wake up tonight as the Braves send Bryce Elder to the mound to face Blake Snell in the final game of this miserable road trip.
