Atlanta Braves announcer Brandon Gaudin took over the play-by-play duties for the team in 2023. Gaudin grew up in Evansville, Indiana and so naturally he was a Braves fan. I also grew up in the area and thanks to TBS and Evansville’s distance to mid-western major-league teams like the Cardinals and Reds, there are quite a few of us Braves fans from southern Indiana.
Gaudin has been well received among Braves fans for his calls, true passion for the team, his wit, and sense of humor.
Gaudin appears to be a professional broadcaster and a grown man upon initial observations. However, like most men our age, we are not actually adults inside of our own heads. Gaudin’s sophomoric sense of humor continues to slip out and I’m not complaining.
He drapes his potty humor in eloquence.
I have a feeling Brandon Gaudin is also an Adam Sandler fan. I get it. I firmly believe Happy Gilmore is the greatest movie of all time.
I worked at Subway in high school because of Happy Gilmore.
I got a bigger TV just to prepare for Happy Gilmore 2.
We love Brandon Gaudin because he is the utmost professional but also gets away with making wiener… I don’t even want to say jokes. He relentlessly peppers Braves fans with wiener references at every opportunity. I haven’t heard anyone complain, either.
Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin says Adrian Johnson has the best umpire name, because… Wieners
We know of the big ones that sort of made their rounds around the internet. It occurred to me just how often Brandon Gaudin makes wiener references when they did the Roku Broadcast (08/25/24) with a Washington Nationals’ announcer in the booth with him. It didn’t take Gaudin long to test out his new partner’s sense of wiener humor when they were talking about favorite umpire last names. Gaudin immediately suggested Adrian Johnson because… wieners.
Here are a few more examples of Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin making wiener references
Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin on Larger Bases: “Those bases, three inches bigger this year, drawing the ire and envy of men everywhere”
After Gaudin made his surprising comment about all men wishing their wieners would also grow three inches bigger just like the bases in Major League Baseball, Jeff Francoeur uncomfortably followed up with “There’s that good changeup by Strider that he mixed in…”
Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin: “From Johnson to Hand and the Batter will be Mastrobuoni”
This next clip has some referring to Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin as the “Mastrobuoni Announcer.”
Below Rob Friedman (Pitching Ninja) calls for Brandon Gaudin to win Broadcaster of the Year because… Wieners.
Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin: “A Solo Mission for Mastrobuoni”
In this game, Gaudin refers to his previous string of Hand-Johnson-Mastrobuoni masturbation commentary and discusses how Brad Hand was no longer with the team and Pierce Johnson was on the IL. He did squeeze in a “From Bush to our old friend Miles Mastrobuoni” to lead into the solo mission remark.
Brandon Gaudin knows the game and he knows the Braves. He sets up his partners with precision to lead them into interesting conversations and valuable insights for fans. The man is one of the best professional broadcasters around. Braves fans are lucky to have him for his professional prowess. It’s icing on top of the cake that every now and then he throws in a bit of this:
By the way, Gaudin did win the NSMA Georgia Sportscaster of the year in 2023.
Just like in the Nationals Roku game, I’m sure Gaudin has made plenty of references that have gone under the radar over the past couple of seasons. If you have any examples, please share them in the comments.
