Ronald Acuna Jr. News: The reigning NL MVP stole three bases in tonight’s win over the Mets. Acuna had been on an eight-game drought before swiping three bags against Mets’ backup catcher Omar Narvaez. The Mets have not thrown out a base stealer this season and Acuna picked his spots tonight.

Mets starter Adrian Houser hit Acuna with the first pitch of the game and Acuna made him pay by immediately stealing second. Acuna would score on an Ozzie Albies double. In the fourth inning, Acuna walked and then stole second and third. This time Austin Riley drove him home.

Acuna finished the game 2-3 with 3 stolen bases, 3 runs scored, 1 walk, and 1 HBP. The Braves won 6-5 and moved to 7-3 while the Mets dropped to 4-7.

Acuna is now hitting .263 with a .391 OBP, 4 SB, 4 RBI, and 12 runs scored.

Talkin’ Tomahawk’s Take: We have been banging the drum all over our site and social media today that Acuna was due for a steal. He didn’t have a dry spell this long all of last season. He sure made up for it tonight. After racking up 13 strikeouts in the first 8 games, Acuna has not struck out in the past two. He appears to shaking off the rust and on the verge of the breakout we knew was imminent.

Next Game: Acuna and the Braves will Jose Quintana tomorrow at 7:20 PM EST in the third game of a four game series against the Mets. Acuna is just 2-13 (.154 avg) with no extra-base hits in his career against Quintana.
