Atlanta Braves News: Jurickson Profar (LF) made his much-anticipated spring debut for the Braves today against the Pirates at CoolToday Park. The first pitch he saw was a letter-high fastball from Pirates pitcher Mike Burrows. Profar turned on it and sent a rocket into right field for a double. Matt Olson would drive him in with a homer to dead centerfield later in the inning.

Profar was slotted into the leadoff spot for the Braves ahead of Austin Riley, Matt Olson, and Marcell Ozuna today.

Profar was signed to a three-year, $42 million contract this offseason. The Braves hope he can sustain the production from his career year in 2023 with the Padres. In 2023, Profar slashed .280/.380/.459 with 24 homers and 85 RBI, earning his first All-Star nod.

Once 2023 MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. returns, the Braves hope to have a star-studded outfield with Michael Harris II, Profar, and Acuna. If Profar can maintain his production from last season it will eliminate some of the holes the Braves had last year in the outfield. Profar’s presence will also take some pressure off Kelenic to elevate his game right away.

Profar certainly got off to a great start with a screaming double into the right-field corner today. What do you think Profar will do for the Braves in 2025? Let us know in the comments below.
