Atlanta Braves slugger Matt Olson has once again earned recognition as one of the best first basemen in Major League Baseball, securing a spot on MLB Network’s “Top 10 First Basemen Right Now” list for 2025. Olson is making his seventh consecutive appearance on the list. This serves as another acknowledgment of Matt Olson’s impact as a first baseman in the big leagues over the past seven years.
The two-time All-Star finished the 2024 season with a .247 batting average, .333 on-base percentage, and .457 slugging percentage, along with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs while playing in all 162 games. Though those numbers were a step down from his 2023 campaign, in which he led MLB with 54 home runs and 139 RBIs, Olson remains one of the game’s most reliable power hitters.
Since joining the Braves, Olson has compiled a 12.2 fWAR, ranking second among first basemen. His ability to hit for power, get on base, and play strong defense at first base has made him a mainstay in MLB’s top rankings.
