While pitchers often dominate the spotlight when it comes to velocity, several Atlanta Braves position players have made their mark with impressive arm strength in 2024. From outfield assists to infield rockets, these players showed why their arms are a vital part of the Braves’ defensive success. Here are the top five hardest-throwing Braves (non-pitchers), based on average velocity and their maximum velocity throws from 2024.

1. Ronald Acuña Jr.Max Velocity: 100.2 MPH | Average Velocity: 90.5 MPH

Ronald Acuña Jr.’s arm strength is as electrifying as his bat. His max throw of 100.2 MPH was the fastest among Braves position players in 2024, and his 90.5 MPH average velocity in the outfield makes him a constant threat to baserunners. Whether cutting down runners at third or gunning for home, Acuña’s arm is a true weapon.

While Acuña has posted poor range metrics since his first knee injury, he offsets any range deficiencies with a cannon of an arm.

Acuna’s max throw of 100.2 mph was the 17th fastest maximum velocity in all of the Major Leagues in 2024. We can’t wait to see Acuna back in action in 2025.

For further reference, check out this throw from a couple years ago. It’s absolutely astounding. If you’ve ever thrown a baseball before, you know what an incredible feat it is to throw a laser from that far out in a Major League outfield. It wasn’t high arching and it didn’t bounce. It’s one of those things the camera will never do it justice. You imagine what this looks like in person to REALLY appreciate it.

2. Ramón LaureanoMax Velocity: 94.3 MPH | Average Velocity: 90.4 MPH

Ramon Laureano’s reputation as a defensive stalwart was on full display this season. With an average outfield velocity of 90.4 MPH and a max throw of 94.3 MPH, Laureano provided plenty of highlight-reel assists. His ability to patrol the outfield and unleash pinpoint lasers added a layer of confidence to the Braves’ defense. He’s also one of our 5 Sexiest Atlanta Braves Players from 2024… I’m sorry. I didn’t write it.

Seeing Laureano on this list shouldn’t be too surprising when he has one of the greatest throws in MLB history.

While Laureano’s throw wasn’t a frozen rope like Acuna’s, he was running back and made the throw from the warning track. He got it there in the air in time to turn a very unlikely double play. Amazing.

3. Michael Harris IIMax Velocity: 95.7 MPH | Average Velocity: 88.4 MPH

Michael Harris II continued to impress in 2024 with his cannon of an arm. Harris’ max velocity of 95.7 MPH ranked second only to Acuña, and his 88.4 MPH average velocity was instrumental in preventing extra bases. Harris is the total package in centerfield. He has the range and the arm to be a perineal contender for Gold Glove after Gold Glove.

Guess what? I’m going to use any excuse I can to show this play:

4. Adam DuvallMax Velocity: 92.1 MPH | Average Velocity: 87.2 MPH

Adam Duvall’s defensive skills were on full display with his powerful arm. With a max velocity of 92.1 MPH and an average of 87.2 MPH.

5. Orlando ArciaMax Velocity: 89.5 MPH | Average Velocity: 86.3 MPH

As the Braves’ shortstop, Orlando Arcia has always been known for having an impressive arm with a max velocity of 89.5 MPH. His 86.3 MPH average velocity across the infield is certainly impressive from the shortstop position.
