Despite today being the final day of the MLB regular season, the Atlanta Braves have three games remaining thanks to Hurricane Helene. The Mets and Braves are scheduled to make up the two postponed games tomorrow.

Last night’s walk-off home run by veteran catcher Travis d’Arnaud propelled the Braves to a very exciting victory over the Royals. The Mets and Diamondbacks both lost to set up a Sunday Funday on the final day of the season.

We will have a pretty good idea of how the NL Wild Card will look by the end of today. Atlanta enters Sunday with a one-game lead over the New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Three teams, two spots.

What Atlanta Braves Need to Happen Today to Clinch Wild Card Spot

• If the Atlanta Braves win today, they clinch a Postseason berth.
• If the Arizona Diamondbacks lose (regardless of Braves’ game outcome), the Braves clinch a spot with seeding being determined in Monday’s double-header vs. Mets.
• Braves can’t be eliminated on Sunday since they are a game ahead of the Mets and D-Backs.
• Mets lead Braves 6-5 in season series, Monday’s double-header will determine tie breaker between the two NL East rivals.

If the Braves lose and the Mets and Diamondbacks win, Atlanta still only needs to win one game on Monday to get in. The Diamondbacks are at the biggest disadvantage because they don’t hold any tiebreakers over the Mets or Braves.
