The Atlanta Braves will have their fair share of activity in the Hot Stove League this offseason. The Braves have the option of cutting $85.4 million in salaries from the payroll via free agency and club options. Below, we’ll take a look at the eight players set to hit the open market via unrestricted free agency and the four club options.

The Braves are set to lose Charlie Morton and Max Fried as unrestricted free agents. Everyone seems to think this is Morton’s final season, but we’ll see if another $20 million can change his mind. Morton is doing his best to help the Braves get to the postseason. He has a 2.68 ERA over his past seven games. He hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last seven starts.
Max Fried is the biggest name on the list for the Atlanta Braves. We’ve already detailed why the Atlanta Braves won’t re-sign Max Fried in another post. Fried has been one of the elite pitchers in all of baseball since 2020 and the Braves have not shown a willingness to pay for high-priced free agents on long-term deals under Alex Anthopoulos.
A.J. Minter will be a highly sought after prize in free agency. Over eight seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Minter has posted a 3.28 ERA over 348.2 innings pitched with a 1.196 WHIP. He has a phenomenal 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings rate. For his career, his ERA has been 31% better than league average. The lefty is currently having another great season for Atlanta with a 2.62 ERA and a 1.019 WHIP. He should reach eight figures a year in his free agent deal.
Atlanta Braves 2025 Club Options
- Marcell Ozuna ($16 million)
- Travis d’Arnaud ($8 million)
- Luke Jackson ($7 million)
- Aaron Bummer ($7 million)
The Atlanta Braves have a few club options to consider. Marcell Ozuna is a steal at $16 million considering his production the past couple years. But, they’ve also got Jorge Soler under contract for the next two seasons.
If the Braves exceed the luxury tax again in 2025, it will be their third-straight year, which comes with the highest penalties possible.
The Braves have $85.4 million they can let walk in free agency between their unrestricted free agents and club options.
What will the Atlanta Braves do this offseason? The core of their roster is set with all these long-term extensions doled out by AA the past few years. Will they be willing to break the luxury tax for a third-straight year or will they make it a priority to reset in 2025? Who would you let walk and how would you replace them?
