In the seventh inning of the Atlanta Braves 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, Michael Harris II made a catch that will surely live on in highlight reels for years to come.

I want to say that Braves fans have grown accustomed to seeing spectacular plays from Michael Harris, but this never gets old and always entertains.

If you pause at the right moment, Harris’ entire upper half of his body is hanging over the outfield wall and into the Phillies bullpen.

If you’ve ever had to track down a long flyball over your head, you know what an incredible skill it is to do this at the highest level where the balls go farther, are hit higher, and you are expected to make the plays.

It’s such a unique skill to be one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. Harris deftly tracks this would-be homer down over his shoulder, accounts for the quickly approaching wall, and climbs it like Rey Mysterio running up the turn buckles to moonsault off onto his opponent.

Michael Harris II has 5 Outs Above Average in 84 Games

Michael Harris II is 16th among centerfielders with 5 Outs Above Average (OAA) on the season. This is incredibly impressive considering that Outs Above Average is a cumulative stat and Harris has only played 84 games this season. You get credit for low probability plays and you get dinged for not making plays. So for Michael Harris to appear among the leaders at his position, he would need to make a lot of plays that most other players would not have.

Last night was just another example of play that very few players would be able to make.
