Atlanta Braves News: Austin Riley was hit by a pitch in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. He was removed from the game in the top of the first inning.

Today, the Atlanta Braves announced that Riley has a fractured right hand and will miss 6-8 weeks.

Four to six weeks from now would put Riley’s return between September 30th and October 14th.

Will Austin Riley be back in time for Postseason?

In the best case scenario, Riley could be back in time for the Wild Card round, which begins on October 1st.

Without a doubt, the Braves can make the Posteason without Austin Riley. The Braves have actually produced fantastic results considering the star-studded list of significant injuries this season.

Despite all of the injuries, the Braves are still 2.0 games up on the Mets for the final wild card spot in the National League (entering Monday night’s games).

They may not be at full power but they do have Marcell Ozuna, who is contending for the triple crown. Jorge Soler has a .978 OPS since joining the Braves on July 29th.

Michael Harris II made his triumphant and splashy return to the lineup against the Giants in grand fashion last week.

Reynaldo Lopez was reinstated from the 15-day IL today and will start Tuesday against the Phillies in a critical first game of a three game set. The Braves are 7.0 games back of the Phillies in the NL East.

The Braves still have a stellar pitching staff. Chris Sale, Max Fried, Reynaldo Lopez, Spencer Schwellenbach, Marcell Ozuna, Matt Olson, Michael Harris II, a hot Soler, and co. have the talent the Braves need to finish the season strong.

They can make the postseason without Austin Riley.
