Atlanta Braves News: Max Fried was hit in the head by an errant throw to first that went into the Braves dugout in Saturday night’s win at the Los Angeles Angels.

Errant throw into dugout hits Max Fried

Jarred Kelenic grounded to first base in what appeared to be the beginning of a 3-6-1 double play. Zach Neto tried to fire a missile to catch the hustling Kelenic at first. The pitcher was Jose Cisnero tried to cover first and he arrived at the same time as the throw.

Neto’s throw was very high and sailed over everyone and into the Braves dugout along the first base line.

The camera kept cutting to Austin Riley looking back in the dugout as someone was being checked out.

The ball apparently caught a part of Max Fried’s head.

Hanna Yates reported that she couldn’t tell if it was a direct hit to Fried or if it hit the wall first. She saw the ball headed toward a spot where Max Fried and starter Chris Sale were sitting in the dugout.

Fried was seen rubbing his head afterward but remained in the dugout. He appeared to be fine.

Fried is 7-7 with a 3.62 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP on the season. Fried has a 7.90 ERA over his past three games since returning from the IL.

The Braves need Fried healthy and on his game the rest of the way. He is scheduled to make his next start on August 21st in a crucial game two of the series against the first-place Philadelphia Phillies.

Atlanta Braves beat Angels 11-3 in Game 2 of Series

The Braves won the game last night 11-3 behind Chris Sale. The Braves are now 8.0 games behind the Phillies and 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Atlanta is one game ahead of the Mets for the final Wild Card spot in the National League.
