Marcell Ozuna extended his major-league leading hit streak to 17 games last night in the Atlanta Braves 8-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. The win was the Braves’ fifth-straight victory. Ozuna didn’t waste any time as he came up to the plate with two on in the bottom of the first inning. He drove a 112.3 mph single to left field to score Ronald Acuna Jr. from second base.

That would be Ozuna’s only hit of the game. Ozuna is tied for the league lead in home runs with Mike Trout at eight. He leads the league in RBI with 24. His .716 slugging percentage is tops in the league and is the only slugging percentage north of .700. Ozuna’s 1.123 OPS is best in the league, as well.

Ozuna’s OPS+ is currently 205. That means he’s been 105% better than the major-league average OPS, which is absolutely nuts! Despite not playing defense, Ozuna is tied for eighth in MLB with 1.1 fWAR.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see that Marcell Ozuna ranks among league leaders in hard-hit metrics. Ozuna has been one of the hardest hitters in the game over the course of his career. His 13.0 barrels per plate appearance are tied for 9th-best in Major League Baseball.

Ozuna has the eighth-longest homer of the season at 446 feet. Not only does Ozuna have a propensity for hitting the ball really hard, he has been hitting it really hard really often. 55.1% of his balls in play have been hard-hit (95 mph+).
