Atlanta Braves News: Reynaldo Lopez made his second start with the Atlanta Braves tonight against the Mets. Lopez pitched 6.0 innings allowing just 3 hits, 3 walks, and no earned runs while striking out 6 Mets hitters. Lopez was credited with his first win of the season, as the Braves finished off the Mets 6-5.

Atlanta moves to 7-3 while the Mets sunk to 4-7.

Lopez picked up right where he left off in his debut. He now has a 0.75 ERA over his first 12.0 innings as a starter. The Braves signed Lopez to a 3-year, $30 million deal and almost immediately announced he would convert back to a starter. Lopez was solid in 2018 as a starter and then terrible in 2019.

On Tuesday night, Lopez did a great job of mixing pitches and locating both his fastball and his curveball very well. Lopez earned 11 whiffs on 94 pitches.

Talkin’ Tomahawk’s Take: Lopez has been proving the Braves correct in their faith in him thus far. Lopez’s success came at a crucial time for the Braves on Tuesday night. The bullpen has been worked pretty hard over the past four games. The Braves are also going to need stability from the rest of the rotation as Spencer Strider awaits an update on his damaged UCL. Lopez has been a welcomed addition to the rotation thus far in 2024.
