Chris Sale News: Chris Sale went 5.1 innings allowing just two earned runs on four hits while striking out six. Sale hit 96 pitches in the outing.
With Spencer Strider on the IL with UCL damage and Max Fried pitching terribly through his first two starts, the Braves have gotten ace production from Chris Sale. Through two games, Sale has pitched 10.2 innings, striking out 13 batters, allowing nine hits and two walks. He is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.031 WHIP.
Sale’s fastball has been nearly a mph faster than it was in 2023. He has averaged 94.8 mph through two starts in 2024. His slider is up 1.3 mph over 2023’s average velocity. It remains to be seen if Sale is just fresh and off to a hot start or if he’ll be able to sustain this productivity and avoid the IL. With the state of Atlanta’s rotation, the Braves are really hoping for Sale to maintain his production and prove to be durable.
Next Start: Friday, 04/12/24 @ Miami Marlins
