The Atlanta Braves and Spencer Strider had their rubber game against the White Sox postponed yesterday due to weather. So, we wait until Friday for the next game. Two straight days without a Braves game!?

While the odds aren’t out yet for tomorrow’s game, I thought it would be good to go ahead and look at some of the matchups for Spencer Strider, who might be a little extra amped as he will get the ball in the Braves’ home opener now thanks to the postponement.

Spencer Strider vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Hitters

Diamondbacks hitters have combined for 38 at-bats against Strider. They have not been good. In those 38 at-bats they have just four hits and 18 strikeouts against the right hander. They are slugging a lowly .211 off Strider with a .438 OPS. The Diamondbacks have a really good team but it appears they have serious issues with Strider’s stuff, just like the rest of the league.

Corbin Carroll vs. Spencer Strider

Corbin Carroll has logged five at-bats against Strider and earned 0 hits while striking out 3 times. He did walk once.

Ketel Marte vs. Spencer Strider

Marte has struck out 3 times in 6 at-bats. However, he does have two hits including a triple. He has walked three times. Marte has the best track record against Strider of any of the Diamondbacks. His one triple accounts for half of the Diamondbacks’ total extra-base hits.

Joc Pederson vs. Spencer Strider

Ah, former Braves legend against future Braves legend. Joc has the most experience against Strider with 10 at-bats. He has walked once and only struck out twice. Meanwhile he has also only earned one hit, a triple.

When Strider has a matchup like this at home, I love the Braves on the moneyline, and in this case I’ll take the spread. The spread is typically set at -1.5 in MLB games. If that’s the case, give me that all day based on the following logic (displayed in easily consumable bullet points).

Tommy Henry vs. Atlanta Braves

Tommy Henry ranks in the 10th percentile in fastball velocity, the 11th percentile in K%, and 23rd percentile in whiff rate.

  • Spencer Strider debuts at home with a four-pitch arsenal.
  • Braves Home Opener on a Friday night.
  • Strider is 15-4 at home with a 14.5 K/9 IP (12.6 K/9 on the road).
  • Braves Offense vs. soft-tossing Tommy Henry

The spread, the moneyline, and the over on Strider’s strikeouts seem like they will be good bets tomorrow.
