The Atlanta Braves will face the Chicago White Sox in Game 2 of the three-game series in Chicago tonight. The game will start at 7:40 PM EST and will feature Reynaldo Lopez vs. Garrett Crochet.

Crochet will be making just his second Major League start of his career and Lopez will be making a return to a starting role after spending the past couple of seasons as a reliever.

Atlanta Braves Odds vs. Chicago White Sox (04/02/2024): The Spread

I love the Atlanta Braves at -2.5 (+105). The Braves have scored 8.5 runs per game through four games so far in 2024. The White Sox have scored just eight total runs through four games. Crochet had a nice debut as a starter but I don’t think that will stop the Braves offense from winning by three or more runs.

We don’t know what to quite expect from Lopez as a starter, but the Braves liked him enough to give him a three-year, $30 million contract and stick him in the rotation. As we saw with Max Fried in the second game of the year, Snit won’t hesitate to hand things over to the dynamic bullpen if he shows any early signs of struggling.

I like the Braves at -2.5 with plus odds!

Ozzie Albies vs. Garrett Crochet

Ozzie Albies slugged .617 against LHP last season. He has averaged a home run every 20 at-bats against LHP over the course of his career. If the home run is a little too risky for your tastes, you can get Ozzie Albies at over 1.5 total bases for -160 odds.

Ronald Acuna Jr. vs. Garrett Crochet

Keep an eye out for Ronald Acuna Jr., he is due for his first homer of the season, despite the cold weather. He also hasn’t stolen a base since the opener.

Michael Harris II vs. Garrett Crochet

Money Mike is swinging a scorching hot bat right now. His over on 1.5 total bases has +120 odds. They must not like MHII’s chances against the left-handed starter Crochet. Last season vs. LHP, Harris slugged .466 with an extra-base hit every 11 at-bats. Plus odds for Harris at over 1.5 total bases could be a good opportunity.

Garrett Crochet vs. Atlanta Braves

Crochet has only faced Matt Olson and Adam Duvall for a combined two at-bats. Tonight’s matchup will help create a track record. Until we have more data, I’m trusting the Braves and their mighty offense over a guy making his second career start.

Reynaldo Lopez vs. Chicago White Sox

They finally set the line on Lopez’s strikeouts for the day at 4.5. I’m taking the over on 4.5 strikeouts for Lopez. The White Sox offense has scored two runs per game this year and they have struck out 10 times per game. Lopez has good control and showed real swing-and-miss stuff as a reliever.

Lopez has only faced five current White Sox players in his career. However, in 37 total at-bats, White Sox hitters are slashing .216/.275/.324 against Lopez.
