The Atlanta Braves signed LHP Angel Perdomo to a split contract on December 7th, and outrighted newly acquired Evan White to Triple-A. Perdomo was non-tendered by the Braves in November. He will miss the entire 2024 season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Evan White is the real headliner from this move. White was one of two contracts the Braves took on in exchange for the services of the toolsy Jarred Kelenic. Evan White signed a six-year, $24 million deal before ever stepping foot on a big-league field.

White is owed $15 million over the next two years. In 306 career plate appearances he is batting .165 with 10 homers and 35 RBI. He won a Gold Glove in 2020 in just 54 games.

It’s no surprise White passed through waiver untouched.

He obviously has a lot of talent for the Mariners to commit to him while in Double-A. We’ll see if the Braves can unlock some of that talent in Triple-A.
