Atlanta Braves News: Ronald Acuna Jr. has been unanimously voted the 2023 National League MVP. Acuna joins Shohei Ohtani, who won the AL MVP in unanimous fashion. This is the first time both National and American League MVPs were unanimous votes in the same season.
Acuna was the unanimous first-place winner in the NL and his challenger Mookie Betts was the unanimous second-place winner. Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson duked it out for third place with Freeman earning 17 third-place votes to Olson’s 13.
In 2023, Acuna led the league in multiple offensive statistics and became the only player in history to hit 40 homers and steal 70 bases in a season. He finished with 41 homers and 73 steals.
The MVP Award marks a full and successful bounce back from the torn ACL in 2021.
Acuna Jr. received news of his MVP victory as he prepared for his debut in the Venezuelan Winter League. Acuna played in the winter league last year to prepare for his MVP season.

His 106 RBI broke Charlie Blackmon‘s record for a leadoff hitter. Blackmon had 103 in 2017. Mookie Betts finished with 107 in 2023.
Acuna now has has six seasons under belt and has racked up a Rookie of the Year Award, four All-Star selections, three Silver Sluggers, and now an MVP Award. Acuna will turn 26 in December.
