Charlie Morton’s Option
The Braves will have to make a decision on Charlie Morton’s $20 million club option, and other options five days after the World Series ends. Eddie Rosario’s option will also be on the table.
Should the Braves surprise us and opt to move on from Morton’s option, here are seven free agent starting pitchers they can target to add rotation depth and possibly a frontline starter.
While it would be a surprise if the Braves pass on the $20 million option, there is some logic to declining Charlie Morton’s option in 2024.
Spencer Strider Shares Thoughts on Postseason Format and “Excuses”

AJSS Hype Is Growing
AJ Smith-Shawver made the postseason roster and impressed many around the club in 2023. His meteoric rise through the minors is the stuff of legend, and some say he has legendary stuff that’s ready to play at the big-league level next season.
He was a possible starter for Game 3 of the NLDS, which shows how much confidence the Braves had in the kid. I encourage you to read about his background at the link below. He was a college-recruit QB in high school and didn’t start pitching until before his senior year in high school. A couple of years later, he’s on the postseason roster. Insane.
