Spencer Strides Toward History on Saturday
Spencer Strider toes the rubber today in an attempt to win his 20th game of the year and set the franchise record for strikeouts. The record is currently held by John Smoltz with 276 in 1996. Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Ronald Acuna Jr. became the only member of the 40-70 club on September 27th when he swiped second base against the Cubs in the 10th inning. More fun happened when the Braves stopped the game to honor the accomplishment. An accomplishment in which no one in the history of the game or the world has achieved. The Cubs announcers were sore losers and whined about it during the broadcast, drawing the mockery of the entire internet.

It’s easy to understand why they were so angry. The Cubs came to Atlanta as a one of the Wild Card teams and they left with three losses. They are now on the outside of the postseason looking in thanks to the beating they suffered at the hands of Acuna and the Braves.
