Ronald Acuna Jr. didn’t just join the 40/70 club, he created it in 2023. Just moments later, Acuna would end the night with an exclamation point. Ozzie Albies drove Acuna home to clinch home field advantage throughout the postseason. It certainly was a magical night for the Braves.
Acuna Builds on MVP Season
Acuna leads the league in runs scored, hits, stolen bases, on-base percentage, total bases, and OPS. One thing to keep in mind is steals don’t count toward total bases. If you add walks and steals to total bases, nobody is even close to Acuna’s real total base numbers this season. He is a no-brainer MVP in this historic season.
Previously, only one player had ever reached the 40/40 club. Only two players had ever reached the 30/50 club.
The Braves have four games remaining. They will close out their series with the Cubs today and welcome the Nationals for a final tune-up for the postseason.
The Braves are now 102-56 with the best record in the National League. They will have home-field advantage throughout the NLCS and a bye in the first round. They will face the winner of the No. 4 & No. 5 seeds the Wild Card first round.
The Braves’ first postseason game will be October 7th.
