We explain why a trade for Adam Duvall would make sense for the Atlanta Braves.

Adam Duvall has already been traded to the Braves twice in his career. Once, in 2018 from the Reds and again last season from the Marlins. Duvall was a key piece for the 2021World Champion Braves. Duvall led the league with 113 RBI while winning a Gold Glove for the World Champion Braves.
Why Trading for Adam Duvall Makes Sense for the Atlanta Braves
The Braves are in need of a right-handed hitting left fielder who can play defense. Right now, they primarily use Eddie Rosario in left. Rosario is a lefty and has had a solid season but we recently saw his defensive deficiencies on display in Saturday’s game against the White Sox. Rosario’s miscues allowed three very important runs to score in the Braves’ one-run loss.
Kevin Pillar is the primary backup and right-handed option in left field. In terms of OPS, Pillar’s bat has been EXACTLY league average with a .763 OPS (100 OPS+). His .481 slugging percentage is 71 points above his career .410 SLG.

Duvall has been an outstanding defender at all outfield positions over the course of his career. He has 51 Rdrs in left field over 513 starts. That’s averages out to 13 defensive runs saved per 135 games. Excellent.
The Red Sox Are in Last Place
Adam Duvall’s services may not be needed much longer in Boston. The Red Sox have a solid 49-44 record but still find themselves in last place in the AL East and two games back of the final wild card spot. Selling Duvall’s services may not cost them a run at the wild card, anyway.
Duvall’s Struggles Since His Return Could Make Him a Very Affordable Acquisition
After a hot start to the season, Duvall missed two months with a wrist injury. Since his return, he’s hit just .179 with 37 strikeouts in 95 plate appearances. Meanwhile, Jarren Duran’s emergence and Duvall’s one-year deal with Boston makes him a prime candidate to move at the deadline.
What do you think? Should the Braves make a move to bring Duvall back to the Braves for a third time? Let us know in the comments below!
