The Atlanta Braves are watching Jared Shuster‘s outings closely with news that Max Fried and Kyle Wright are both out until at least July. Jared Shuster is putting together a nice season at the Triple-A level.
Braves News: Jared Shuster Earns the Win for Gwinnett
Embed from Getty ImagesShuster made his fifth start of the season for the Stripers yesterday. He pitched 5.2 innings, whiffing seven and allowing four earned runs. Shuster threw 94 pitches on the night, displaying a solid mix of three pitches.
He threw 37 fastballs, 33 changeups, and 24 sliders. Thirty percent of his 94 pitches resulted in a called strike or a swing and a miss. Shuster has 23 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched this year. His WHIP is 1.38.
White and Grissom Lead the Offense
Eli White continued his outstanding season for the Braves Triple-A affiliate, collecting three hits in four at-bats and walking once. White drove in two runs and scored three times.
White led the game off with a home run off of Jason Junk. The home run was his sixth of the season. He also stole his seventh base of the season. White has raised his season batting average to .305 while his OPS is a lovely 1.052.
Vaughn Grissom has been dealing with being optioned back to Gwinnett by taking his anger out on the baseball. Girsoom went 1-4 in this game with two RBI. Grissom is now batting .396 on the season with a 1.135 OPS.
Nick Solak added his fourth homer of the year in the sixth inning from the cleanup spot.
The Stripers won 12-5 and moved to 13-21 on the season. Gwinnett plays the Nashville Sounds tonight at 7:35 pm. You can watch this game on MLB.TV.
