According to the Athletic’s David O’ Brien, Chipper Jones will be returning to the Atlanta Braves this spring to work as a hitting consultant. Chipper worked in the same role for the Braves in 2021.
The 2018 Hall of Famer has had his fingerprints on the Braves lineup since his retirement after 2012. Chipper helped mentor Braves hitters from Freddie Freeman to Austin Riley.
Chipper was a huge proponent of Austin Riley’s when he first broke into the league in 2019. Despite Riley’s horrendous struggles in the latter half of his rookie season, Chipper maintained that Riley had the makeup of a professional hitter.
Here Chipper speaks about the adjustments Riley needed to make to become an all-around hitter.
Braves fans surely look forward to the legendary third baseman imparting his knowledge and wisdom on the 2023 Braves this spring.
