The Atlanta Braves don’t have a ton of work to do this offseason with the core of their roster under team control thanks to Alex Anthopoulos’s handywork with all of his long-term contract extensions.

According to Spotrac, the Braves are about $66 million shy of the competitive balance tax for 2025. Luckily, they have a lot of roster spaces already occupied. Should the Braves exceed the competitive balance tax a third year in a row, the penalty will be heavy. They may try to toe the line a little more closely in 2025.

We expect the Braves to bid adieu to Max Fried this offseason. Charlie Morton may opt to retire as he enters his age-41 season, although he will create a veteran hole in the rotation if he does. Morton has been fantastic over his past seven starts, doing his part to help lead the Braves into the Postseason. The Braves have young pitchers available to fill the holes. Ian Anderson is eyeing a return to the Major Leagues. Huascar Ynoa has to be chomping at the bit. Bryce Elder would desperately love another shot at returning to his 2023 All-Star form.

Atlanta Braves 2025 Relief Pitching

The big loss in the bullpen will be A.J. Minter. The Braves do have some left-handed options to turn to. The Braves have a $7 million option on Bummer, which they might need. The Braves have to feel good about Dylan Lee and his 1.91 ERA this season.

Atlanta Braves 2025 Outfield

The Braves have plenty of options in the outfield and DH in 2025. Adam Duvall will be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season. Kelenic will be here for years to come. Soler could provide valuable playing time with power as Acuna attempts to ease back from a torn right ACL. Laureano is under team control, as well.
